DESCRIPTION:
Nestled in the foothills of the Elands Valley, on the banks of the Elands River near Waterval Onder, lies Aloes Country Inn. Dave and Lona offer you a warm family feeling, where you can stay in quality rooms in tranquil surroundings overlooking the river, or enjoy the rustic feel of the Aloes Pub.
This is truly the gateway to the Louwveld, with the cliffs of the escarpment near by and the Elands Valley opening up in front, you are surrounded by the beauty of a unique ecology.
ACCOMMODATION
We offer accommodation in four self catering units, and four double rooms en-suite and also have a unit equipped for disabled persons. The rooms are designed to provide cool comfort on the hottest of days, with a shady front veranda.
FACILITIES
We provide meals on request and have braai facilities should you rather enjoy the open outdoors with a late afternoon sun downer, outside the pub or near the river. We are happy to cater for the lone traveler, couples or groups and cater for large gatherings on arrangement.
ATTRACTIONS & ACTIVITIES
The air is crisp and clean and the climate is temperate with warmth all year round. Waterval Onder is Malaria Free but do bring sun protection cream if you are planning on tanning. The area is known for bird watching, hiking trails, mountain biking, rock climbing, trout fishing and there are several historic sites just a stone throws away. Towns like Sabie, Graskop, Pilgrims Rest, Hazyview and Nelspruit make an ideal days outing and the Local Town of Waterval Boven offers a selection of quaint restaurants and pubs.
Tourist sites nearby include Elands Waterfall, Five arch stone railway bridge, Paul Kruger's last residence - museum and the ZASM tunnel built at the turn of the 1900's.
We welcome club events ranging from fishermen, to bikers and everything in between. Use our knowledge of the area to plan scenic day trips to waterfalls, through mountain passes or to historic sites. For groups of motorcycle riders, we can either provide you with a local guide to take you on all the best routs, (Fast or Slow) or can guide you through these on the Map.
