DESCRIPTION:

Flycatcher Castle is situated on the outskirts of Graskop towards God's Window in Mpumalanga. The Castle, set in the style of a 17th century Italian Castle is a fairytale experience for all visitors and guests alike, be it for lunch, tea, castle tour or a stay over in the luxurious suites.

The Castle has been a dream turned to reality in just three years. Having been conceptualized in the form of a sculpture by part owner Manie Connoway early in 2005, the castle was constructed using hand picked relics and works of art to create a magnificent masterpiece set in one of the most beautiful areas of the country.

accommodation

There are six suites which are all individually decorated in styles of end of the 19th century composers such as Strauss in frivolous pink, Gounod in striking Art Deco and Mozart in red velvet and gilded wallpaper. Other unique aspects of the suites include lovely views as well a magnificent bath set in an open plan style, ideal for couples wanting a romantic and enchanted experience. A sixth suite, The Ruby Royal, is ideal for guests who dare to have a completely different and exciting experience in an Arabian setting.

The bedroom tower has a four meter high mirrored ceiling, the indoor solar heated plunge pool is framed by Persian carpets and embellished with a chandelier laden with "rubies". The throne chamber (toilet) boasts a tiara, mirrors, "ruby" jewels and optical fiber lights (a place where there can be no secrets!). A spacious shower overlooking the plunge pool and indoor garden promises sheer enjoyment (please note that the Ruby Royal has no bath). Food and drinks from the kitchen can be served through a service hatch ... so there is no need to go anywhere, but "hide" and "play" in the Ruby Royal.

Conferences

The auditorium can seat up to 35 people. There is a digital overhead projector, a large collapsible movie screen (3,4 x 2,5 metres), a good sound system, three spotlights together with other lighting.

All this is controlled from the projector room higher up / behind the auditorium. However, there are two cables (video and USB) that runs from the projector room to the auditorium floor so that direct interaction between the conference leader and audience can be possible.

Although the auditorium seats 35 and the restaurant can accommodate 35 people the castle only accommodates ten guests so other accommodation in the immediate area can be recommended.

Mpumalanga Weddings

The Castle has a Chapel / Auditorium which can be used for weddings, concerts, small intimate gatherings and functions, as well as an art gallery showcasing a variety of bronzed sculptures. A cosy spa was opened recently and guests can enjoy the Jacuzzi, a massage or an ozone sauna. Four course dinners are served in Der Rosenkavalier Restaurant, bringing fine dining cuisine to perfectly complete this magical experience.

Flycatcher Castle perfectly compliments its surroundings and reflects an awareness and love of nature, with beautiful views across the Mantitshi wetland and river. This home mirrors this peacefulness as the rooms do not have televisions but rather echo Nature’s calls. Found within the garden is a little Eden with a colony of dwarf chameleons, half a dozen of frog species and a variety of birds. An abundance of wild flowers can be found within a radius of 200 meters from the castle … an excellent opportunity for macro photography enthusiasts.
