DESCRIPTION:

“Kwe Kwe” is a 265 ha private game farm, 200 km north-east of Johannesburg. The architecture of our 4 fully serviced self-catering lodges (accommodating each between 6 and 8 people) is amazing.

Each secluded lodge has its own garden, fenced swimming pool and a playroom with billiard, ping pong table and darts. Our lodges are elegantly and comfortably furnished: all you need to bring is your food and drink, the rest is supplied.

We can provide a full catering service, transport from Johannesburg/Pretoria and organize short excursions on request (book at least one week in advance). Kwe Kwe is also ideal for groups up to 32 people (workshops, team building, and weddings).

Accommodation

Our 4 lodges are decorated with African art but each one is different and has its own atmosphere. There are three lodges with 4 bedrooms, accommodating up to 8 people.

“Hornbill”
Our more traditional thatched homestead.

“Ndebele”
Has been painted by women from the Ndebele village of Mabhoko. It is situated at the foot of the hill and has a stunning view of the reserve and the surrounding farms. It comprises a main building, a rondavel and a cottage with 2 bedrooms. There is a roof top terrace on the cottage. There is another roof top terrace on the main building, with a table sitting 10 and a braai. It is possible to sleep on the terrace, watching the stars.

“Tata Somba”
Was inspired by the architecture of Benin (West Africa) traditional huts. Built on two levels, with a terrace overlooking a dam, it comprises one building and a separate rondavel.

Facilities

Each lodge has a fully equipped kitchen (four plate gas stove and oven, microwave oven, electric fridge-freezer and other necessary appliances and utensils), living room, lounge, braai area and covered patio. All bedrooms have a bathroom with a shower. In Hornbill, there is also a bathroom with a bath and Ndebele and Tata Somba’s rondavels have an outside bath.

All our lodges have large fans in each room. Hornbill has also air-conditioning and heater in each bedroom. Solar panels provide electricity for our geysers. There are fireplaces in the lounge of Tata Somba and Ndebele. All thatch roofs have been treated for allergens. There are TV and DVD players in Hornbill and Warthog (only CD players in other houses). Internet is available on request and there is cell phone coverage. Our staff clean the house and do the dishes twice a day.

Attractions and Activities

At Kwe Kwe, you can walk in the bush, climb a mountain or ride bicycles freely among giraffe, wildebeest, zebra, kudu, impala, rooihartbees, gems buck, waterbuck and ostriches. Bicycles are provided for free. Kwe Kwe is also the only place in South Africa where you can drive “kwistax” (Belgian go-karts without engine)!

Near our game farm, you can play golf or visit a crocodile farm, go on a boat trip, bird watching and fishing. You can also visit the nearby village of Mabkhoko with its houses painted by internationally acclaimed Ndebele artists.
