DESCRIPTION:
Laughing Waters – a comfortable and homely guest house found in the beautiful Sabie River Valley, near Hazyview.
From the car park guests make their way through a covered veranda into the foyer to be welcomed by Gavin and Carol van der Westhuizen, who are also the owners of GAP Tours & Transfers. Laughing Waters guests will enjoy the enviable situation of having their own on-site tour operator to make arrangements for activities and excursions and to provide tours and safaris. Should guests prefer to make their own arrangements however, Gavin and Carol will be happy to offer suggestions and advice, maps and directions.
Guests who do not have a car may find that a lack of public transport in Hazyview can be inconvenient. In addition to tours and safaris, GAP Tours are able to provide a transfer service for their guests to any of the activities or attractions, restaurants or shops in the area.
Accommodation
The bedrooms are accessed from a shady courtyard garden. Each is individually decorated, and very spacious. Large windows overlook the gardens, and allow the sound of birdsong into the rooms. Each room has an en-suite bathroom, tea and coffee making facilities, ceiling fan, cupboards and comfortable chairs.
KINGFISHER
This large room is furnished with a king size bed, dressing table and two wing-back chairs. There is also a day bed in the room which can be used by a child. The dressing room leads to the en-suite bathroom which has a bath as well as a spacious shower. The room has a view of the main garden and opens on to a balcony overlooking the pool.
WOOD OWL and SUNBIRD
These rooms are similar in size and style and also open on to the balcony overlooking the main garden and pool. Wood Owl is furnished with two three quarter beds and Sunbird with a king size bed. Both have comfortable easy chairs. The large en-suite bathrooms are light and airy, and each has a bath with separate shower.
ROBIN
Robin is furnished with two three quarter beds, and two comfortable chairs. The bay window in the room overlooks the lush terraced garden at the back of the house. The en-suite bathroom has a shower / bath combination.
GUINEA FOWL
Guinea Fowl is furnished with two three quarter beds, and two chairs. This spacious, airy room overlooks the side garden with it’s huge fever tree just across the lawn. The large en-suite bathroom has a bath and separate shower.
LOERIE
A small vestibule opens into a pleasant and comfortable room, with two three quarter beds on the one side, and the en-suite shower room and separate toilet on the other. Loerie overlooks the terraced garden at the back of the house.
Facilities
An enormous covered veranda overlooks the garden. Breakfast is served here, and guests are welcome to relax here during the day.
The comfortable, country style lounge inside the house offers DStv, and a generous selection of books and magazines. In winter the open fire enhances the warm ambience on cool evenings. Wi-Fi is available throughout the house.
The beautiful gardens are the owner’s pride and joy; they are lush and colourful, and shaded by tall trees. The large swimming pool is an ideal place to cool off after a day exploring the scenic or safari aspects of the area, and the surrounding trees provide shade and a respite from the sun.

The Kruger National Park, the Panorama Route, with the Blyde River Canyon, God’s Window, Bourke’s Luck Potholes and the scenic towns of Pilgrim’s Rest, Graskop and Sabie.

Transfers to any of the activities in the area if required, as well as airport transfers, Panorama Tours, open vehicle and air conditioned vehicle safaris, endangered wildlife tours, elephant back safari, morning bush walks in the Kruger National Park, sunset safaris, night drives and bush braais in the Kruger National Park, day tours to Swaziland.
Location
Laughing Waters Guest House is situated on a citrus farm on the banks of the Sabie River, about 6km from Hazyview. Set in a beautifully lush sub-tropical garden, surrounded by tall indigenous trees and populated with an abundance of birds, Laughing Waters is a quiet haven, a home away from home.
The location of the guest house close to the river ensures slightly cooler temperatures than elsewhere in the valley, and this comfortable micro climate makes Laughing Waters especially welcoming in the hot summer months.
The riverine forest and indigenous bush surrounding the farm, the proximity to the Kruger National Park, and the occasional visiting hippo make Laughing Waters feel slightly 'wild', but still very civilised! |
