DESCRIPTION:

Misty Mountain is situated on the Long Tom Pass, Mpumalanga, between Sabie and Lydenburg on the famous Panorama Route and close to the Kruger National Park. Misty Mountain is 320 kms from Johannesburg International Airport and 70 kms from Kruger Mpumalanga International Airport.

Situated on South African Natural Heritage Site No. 48 and perched at an altitude of 1700m above sea level in a malaria free area, Misty Mountain is a 3-star TGCSA graded, owner-managed country hotel with a relaxed, informal and family-friendly atmosphere.

The climate at Misty Mountain is moderate. Summer days are warm with daytime temperatures averaging around 25ºC. Winter days are mild with temperatures around 18ºC. Throughout the year, temperatures tend to drop at night and winter nights can be very cold and crisp. As Misty Mountain sits in the mist belt; a somewhat higher than average rainfall of 1500 mm/year is experienced (mainly in the summer months).

Accommodation


Accommodation includes 27 country chalets. All chalets have en-suite bathrooms, open log fires, tea/coffee making facilities and private verandahs with stunning views.

11 x 4 Bed Chalets (accommodates up to 4 people)
1 completely private double bedroom; 2 beds in lounge, 1 bathroom, separate toilet

2 x 6 Bed Chalets (accommodates up to 6 people)
1 completely private double bedroom; 1 loft bedroom with 4 beds, 1 bathroom, separate toilet

Dining


A la carte restaurant, specializing in superior country cooking. All meals are freshly prepared to order with many ingredients sourced from our very own organic vegetable garden.

Facilities


A cozy pub, with a fabulous view of timbered valleys and looking down over the Lowveld. A comfortable lounge and TV room - an ideal place to enjoy a liqeur or coffee around the log fire or read a book from our substantial library.

An indoor games room with table tennis and pool table. An outdoor playground with trampoline, swings, seesaws, jungle gym, outdoor chess, etc. A residents’ pool for exclusive use of inhouse guests. A pool deck with views over the Lowveld.

Conferences


Misty Mountain offers a modern, air-conditioned conference centre, fitted with state-of-the art amenities and equipment. The conference venues can accommodate from 30 to 100 delegates in various seating configurations. We have 2 dedicated breakaway/meeting rooms, accommodating 12 delegates and 10 delegates respectively. We have another multi-purpose room that can be also used for breakaway purposes, accommodating up to 20 delegates.

Weddings & Special Functions


Our function venue is ideal for weddings, family celebrations, company functions and product launches with a maximum seating capacity approximately 80 guests. Function menus are available on request.

On site activities


Birdwatching:
Misty Mountain is a breeding site for the endangered Blue Swallow and is home to many other indigenous and migratory birds, including the elusive Bush Black Cap and the colourful Knysna Turaco.

Walking Trails:
15 kms of marked, mapped and maintained trails through indigenous forests, pine planations, open grasslands and alongside waterfalls.

Mountain biking:
With exceptional environment with great views. Bring your own bikes along.

Guided quad biking:
1 and 2 hour trails with experienced guides.

Trout fishing:
1 dam and 4 weirs regularly stocked with rainbow trout.
