ACTIVITIES

Barberton has a robust history from the gold rush days of the 1880"s. The local museum and period houses from that era are well maintained and worth a visit. For the adventurous, view the beautiful Dekaap valley from the air with an early morning microlight flight.

Some 250 different bird species occur in the Barberton area and the Lowveld Bird Club has regular outings to surrounding areas. If you are fit, try the Old Coach Road Mountain hike (duration 3 hours) or the more sedate Rimers Creek Bird Walk.

A day visit to Kruger National Park is possible from Old Coach Road if you have an early start. Malelane Gate is only 64 km away and supplied with our breakfast picnic pack, a round trip Malelane / Sabie / Lower-Sabie / Crocodile Bridge is a unique outing.

For 4x4 enthusiasts, various scenic drives, including the Swaziland border area, lasting no longer than a day are possible from Old Coach Road.
