DESCRIPTION:
Rainbow Lodge is a beautiful small farm in the heart of Mpumalanga only about 200km to 250km from Gauteng. Rainbow Lodge is an ideal getaway from the mad rush of the city for a day a weekend or for an extended period to recharge the batteries and get back to the real meaning of life.
The Lodge is also ideally located for someone exploring the area. We are within easy reach of most of Mpumalanga tourist attractions. We are situated near the very interesting small country town of Dullstroom which most fly fisherman will know. The Lodge has three dams of which two are well stocked with Rainbow Trout. There is also Black Bass in the dams.
Self Catering Accommodation
There are cozy Swiss style self catering cottages. The chalets are serviced daily. The units are placed near the fishing dams to make it very easy for the fisherman to reach and the rest of the family is near by.
Cottage 1 [sleeps up to 4]
For the small family or for four adults looking for cost-effective accommodation. This unit has 1 separate bedroom with double bed. The bathroom has a shower with wood panelling all round .The open plan living / kitchen area with fireplace has a full size bunks in a corner. There is a big veranda facing the dams to enjoy sundowners while enjoying the view.
Cottage 2 [for a couple]
This log cabin is for the couple which look for a romantic time. The unit has an open plan sleeping and living arrangement to allow the guest to watch the open fire while in bed. The bathroom with a very spacious shower is situated next to the sleeping area and the kitchen area is placed behind the bathroom. There is also a veranda to enjoy the view over the dams and down the valley.
Cottage 3 [sleeps up to 6 and on the ground floor of a double storey cottage]
The Unit has two bedrooms of which one has a four poster double bed. The bathroom has a bath and hand held shower. The open plan living / kitchen area with fireplace has full size bunks placed in a corner. There is also a big semi enclosed veranda facing the garden and the dams to enjoy the outdoors even if it rains or there is a chilly wind blowing.
Cottage 4 [Sleeps up to 6 and on the top floor of the double storey cottage]
This Unit is the same as Cottage 3 except the bedrooms have only single beds and the very big veranda is in a L shape around the unit.
Cottage 5 [for the very romantic couple]
Previous guests refer to this unit as the Honeymoon suite. You have to see this chalet to appreciate the unique construction of this log cabin. The unit is raised off the ground to allow you to park your car under the unit .The circular stairs bring you to a handcrafted door. As you enter the cabin you are welcomed by a cozy sleeping area with your bathroom on your right. The bathroom has a shower. Further towards the balcony there is the living area with the fireplace and the kitchen area to your right. The balcony is just meters from the one dam and the branches of the trees that gives you the feeling you are living with the birds.
Activities and Attractions
There is also lots to do for the person not into fishing; the bird life is abundant and there is very nice walks around the dams and in the forest to enjoy the local wildlife and nature at its best.
The view and the informal extensive garden is also nice to explore. The yellow Arum Lilies which are native to this area only are also plentiful at Rainbow Lodge. The Lodge is also very easy to reach with a normal car as it is only 2.7 km off the tar and the gravel road is normally in good repair.
We love to welcome the guest who looks for relaxation, peace and tranquillity and to feel one with nature. It is also worth to mention that the water at Rainbow Lodge is of the purest in the country. If you looking for hectic action we not the place to be. For other interesting things to do various activities like horse riding, archery, clay pigeon shooting can be arranged. |
