DESCRIPTION:

Way out on the Wine Route is the Windmill Wine Shop & Cottages including Windmill Biking, here in Big 5 Country. Set on 22 hectares of malaria free indigenous bush with abundant birdlife is the ideal getaway base from which to explore our area or merely relax and unwind.

The location is extraordinary: overlooking the Sabie River Valley, and beyond to God’s Window and the Drakensberg, with the Kruger National Park and the panoramic Blyde River Canyon just around the corner. Activities and adventures available from ‘Mild to Wild’ in and around the Sabie River Valley.

ACCOMMODATION


Windmill Cottage
Three free standing Windmill Cottages are well spaced to give optimal privacy and peace which can accommodate two people per cottage and children over 14 years old are welcome. Choice of twin beds or a king size bed. Fine white linen and ‘duck & down’ duvets. En-suite with showers and separate toilets (bath towels provided). Selection of guest amenities. Tea and coffee tray with fresh milk. Air-conditioner – heating and cooling. Mini kitchenette with cutlery and crockery, glasses, kettle, microwave, toaster, mini fridge. No stove or oven. Braai outside. Private wooden deck with views over the Sabie River Valley. Self-Catering rate available on request.

Windmill Farm House
Three en-suite bedrooms with sliding doors leading onto a wooden deck which can accommodate two people per bedroom. Six people in total. Children of all ages are welcome. Choice of twin beds or a king size bed. Fine white linen and ‘duck & down’ duvets. En-suite with showers (bath towels provided). Selection of guest amenities. Air-conditioning in the bedrooms – heating and cooling. Open plan kitchen-lounge-dining area equipped with cutlery and crockery, glasses, kettle, microwave, toaster, fridge, pots and pans and a stove. Ceiling fans. Fireplace in the lounge. Television & DSTV decoder in the lounge. Please bring your own DSTV card. Tea and Coffee tray with fresh milk. Braai outside. Wooden deck with views over the Sabie River Valley. Self-Catering rate available on request.

Windmill Honeymoon Cottage
A romantic and private cottage for all special occasions or just as a spoil’ which can accommodate two people with king size bed. Fine white linen and ‘duck & down’ duvet. Bath for two with a view (bath towels provided). Outside shower. Separate toilet. Mini plunge pool on the deck (swimming towels provided). Selection of guest amenities. Air-conditioning and ceiling fan. Mini kitchenette with cutlery and crockery, glasses, kettle, microwave, toaster, mini fridge. No stove or oven. Tea and coffee tray with fresh milk. Braai outside. Private wooden deck with awesome views over the Sabie River Valley. A 750ml complimentary bottle of South African sparkling wine on arrival.

BREAKFAST


A continental style breakfast basket. The baskets may vary slightly, but the general composition is fruit juice, homemade bread, cheese, cold meat or local smoked trout, jam and marmalade, croissant or muffin, yoghurt, cereal and fruit in season

SELF CATERING ACCOMMODATION


Windmill House
A Self-Catering House perfect for families and groups travelling together which can accommodate eight people including children of all ages in four Twin bedrooms and two bathrooms with showers. Fine white linen and bath towels. Selection of guest amenities. Ceiling fans and oil heaters. Open plan kitchen-lounge-dining area. Kitchen is equipped with cutlery and crockery, glasses, kettle, microwave, toaster, fridge, pots and pans and a stove. Tea and coffee tray with fresh milk. Braai outside. Large wooden deck with views over the Sabie River Valley.

THE WINDMILL WINE SHOP


Open Monday to Saturday from 9am to 5pm. Closed on Sundays. A tasting-buying-eating-drinking experience.

Cape Wines – a small but unique selection of Cape Wines changing regularly according to wine trends in a relaxed buying atmosphere with knowledgeable advice to hand.

Craft Beer – Always enthusiastic supporters of South African micro brewers. A local brew is available on tap or in bottles to take home.

South African Cheeses – Cheese & Wine a match made in heaven. A premium selection of award winning South African cheeses

Coffee – Filter, Cappuccinos & Espressos from the locally roasted Sabie Valley Coffee farm next door. Also available to take away.

Deli – A choice selection of South African cheeses, cold meats, local smoked trout, preserves & pickles, Fresh Farm Breads, Baguettes, Croissants, Muffins, etc... Baked daily.

Light Lunch – A selection from the deli of South African cheeses, cold meats, local smoked trout, preserves & pickles, savoury biscuits & homemade bread served on a wooden board with baby tomatoes and fresh herbs & salads from our own garden.

ATTRACTIONS and ACTIVITIES


In the direction of Hazyview is Big Five Country with the world-renowned Kruger National Park. With three gates to choose from on our door step makes easy access to the magic found within the park. We can advise you; whether it’s a self drive exploration or an organized open vehicle safari, night drive or walking safari.

In the direction of Sabie is the Panorama Route including Blyde River Canyon (the largest Green canyon in the world), God’s Window, Burke’s Luck Potholes, picturesque waterfalls and the historical Gold mining town of Pilgrims Rest. Organized tours can be arranged. Our ‘Sabie River Valley’ is the adventure capital of South Africa. There are things to do from Mild to Wild: hot air ballooning, horse riding, quad bike trails, river rafting and more, can be arranged.
